Ain’t Got a Dollar: Illinois Workers and Protest Songs, 1865 to 1965 comes to Macomb
May 5 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm CDT
Long before Bruce Springsteen took on the working class struggle, Illinois workers championed their movement in song. The eight-hour day, higher wages, safer working conditions and union contracts all became subjects for worker bards. Join Bucky Halker May 5 2017, at the Western Illinois Museum, Macomb, Illinois, bringing his brand of Illinois labor song and commentary to West Central Illinois. This event is underwritten by Company of Folk through a grant from the Marion the Librarian Speakers Bureau. The concert is free to the public with a suggested donation to the Museum of $5. CDs will be available for purchase.
